Men's Cross Country Competes at Northeast Regionals

BOSTON, MA – The Merrimack women’s cross country
team saved its best for last, racing to a sixth-place finish at the
Northeast Regionals Sunday afternoon.
Katelyn Meagher (Mansfield, MA) led the way, finishing
25th in a time of 24:10.6, with Jennifer Richard (Wendell,
MA) placing 33rd in 24:37.7. Ashley Sarris
(Shelton, CT) was 42nd, while Julie Binney (South
Easton, MA) placed 47th overall. Freshman
Christina Fisher (Mansfield Center, CT) rounded
out the top-five Merrimack runners with a 77th place finish.
Merrimack was fifth among Northeast-10 schools, after finishing
seventh two weeks ago at the Northeast-10 Championships. Stonehill
captured the overall event, earning 51 points, while UMass Lowell,
Adelphi, Southern Connecticut and Philadelphia made up the top five
teams.
Decimated by injuries and illness, the men’s squad featured
just two runners, with Brendan Mormile (West Haven,
CT) finishing 132nd in 38:33.7 and Pat Lawlor
(Haverhill, MA) 133rd in 38:39.5.
UMass Lowell won the men’s team event, with Stonehill,
Bentley, Adelphi and AIC rounding out the top five.
