BOSTON, Mass. – Headlined by a first-place finish in the long jump from junior Kenny Clarke (Oakland, N.J.), the Merrimack College men's track & field team posted strong outing at the University of Rhode Island on Saturday.

Head coach Jacky Mendes, "Another great weekend for the Warriors. We had a strong showing against all Divisions of NCAA competition, most notably Clarke with his stellar performances. The coaches are very excited about the direction Merrimack track is taking and is looking forward to the tune-up of next weekend before we get into championship season."
How It Happened
- Clarke's first-place finish led the way for the Warriors on Saturday in Rhode Island, as the junior shined in his signature jump events. His victory in the long jump would come as the result of a 6.75m jump, while he also added a third-place finish in the high jump with a 1.94m jump.
- Still holding the top time in the Northeast-10 Conference in the 60m dash, sophomore Juwan Hall (Waterbury, Conn.) delivered another solid performance in the 60m event, running a time of 7.02 for a fourth-place finish. Junior Keith Steinbrecher (Wading River, N.Y.) added a fifth-place finish for the Warriors in the mile, posting the fourth-best time in school history with an NE10-qualifying time of 4:26.34.
- Sophomore Michael Cuesta (South Portland, Maine) registered a pair of top-10 finishes on the track and in field events for Merrimack. He finished eighth in the 200m with an NE10-qualifyng time of 22.95, and recording a sixth-place finish in the long jump with a 6.34m jump.
- Freshman Ryan Nesta (Milford, Mass.) also contributed with a pair of personal-best performances on the track. He finishes 16th in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.23, and finished 16th in the 200m dash at a time of 23.29. Both times qualify for the NE10 Championships.
The Warriors are in Boston next weekend for the David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
