JEAN-GILLES FINISHES SECOND IN 200M, MEN'S TRACK & FIELD PLACES 8TH AT NE-10'S SATURDAY
BOSTON – Sophomore Taylor Jean-Gilles (Woburn, Mass.) placed second in the 200m race and earned another top-five finish in the 60m, helping the Merrimack College men's track & field team placed eighth at the 2014 Northeast-10 Conference Championships on Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.

How It Happened
Tying its best-ever finish at the NE-10 Indoor Championships set back in 2011-12, Jean-Gilles paced the Warriors to another eighth-place finish in the team standings by accounting for 13 of Merrimack's 30 team points on Saturday thanks to his efforts in the sprint events.
The first-year sophomore placed fourth in the 60m dash with a time of 7.04 seconds, qualifying for the New England Championships in the process, before doing likewise in the 200m, placing second with a time of 22.58 seconds.
Junior Luis Cruz (Lawrence, Mass.) picked up five more team points in the 800m, posting a time of 1:56.49 seconds, while classmate Sherif Ali (Cliffside Park, N.J.) added three more team points in the 3000m run, finishing sixth with a time of 9:01.79.
John Spencer (North Haven, Conn.) qualified for the finals in the 60m hurdles and placed eighth (8.83 seconds), while the 4x800m relay team added another team point after finishing eighth with a combined time of 8:36.82.
In field events, freshman John Braga (North Reading, Mass.) placed fifth in the high jump (1.94m) and the long jump (6.78m) to haul in eight more team points to round out the group of scorers for the Warriors.
Merrimack next will compete in the New England Championships next Friday and Saturday (Feb. 28 – March 1) hosted by Harvard University to wrap up the indoor season.
