MEDFORD, Mass. – Highlighted by a third-place finish in the 200m dash by graduate student Ethan Weaver (Brooklyn, Conn.), the Merrimack men's track & field team posted a 10th-place finish at the Tufts Snowflake Classic on Saturday afternoon in Medford, Mass.
The Warriors earned 38 team points on the day to finish ahead of Division I opponents Boston University, Bryant University and Holy Cross. A total of 24 schools were represented, with Northeastern, Tufts and Bridgewater State rounding out the top three teams.
Weaver represented the top Warrior finisher on the day after earning third in the 200m. The graduate student sprinter finished with a final time of 23.05 seconds, less than a second off the winning time. Weaver was nearly as good in the 400m dash, finishing in fourth with a time of 50.49 seconds.
The 4x100m relay team enjoyed a fine outing after finishing in third place. Both Ethan Weaver and Ian Weaver (Brooklyn, Conn.), as well as freshman Denzel Livingston (Billerica, Mass.) and sophomore Anthony Arcari (Teskbury, Mass.) helped that unit finish with a time of 42.93 seconds.
Livingston was stellar in the long jump, placing fourth with a distance of 6.69m. Finally, the 4x800m relay team comprised of sophomore Luis Cruz (Lawrence, Mass.), freshmen Nick Christensen (Peabody, Mass.), Daniel O'Flynn (Ipswich, Mass.) and Evan Vadenais (Millville, Mass.) ran to a third-place finish with a time of 8:56.50.
Merrimack will continue its outdoor season next Saturday at the UMass Lowell Invitational.
