Men’s Track and Field Travels to Stonehill For Skyhawk Invitational

EASTON, MA – The Merrimack men's track and field team competed on Saturday afternoon at the Skyhawk Invitational held at W.B. Mason Stadium.

The Warriors competed well in the 100 meter dash as Jesse Fowler (Lynn, Mass.) was impressive once again finishing with a time of 11.04 seconds. His time was good for 3rd place while Mike Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) placed 9th overall with a time of 11.40 seconds.

was the Warriors' top performer in the 200 meter dash. He finished in 1st place in his heat with a time of 23.02 seconds. That time was one of the top 10 best in Merrimack track and field history, trailing only Fowler who currently holds the top five times in that event. Kelley also competed in this event finishing 1st in his heat with a time of 24.11 seconds. 

Merrimack only had one member of their team compete in the long jump event. Sophomore Anthony Baccini (Billerica, Mass.) placed 4th in his flight with a distance of 5.96 meters. Baccini jumped into second all-time in Merrimack history, surpassing his old distance of 5.95 meters. Baccini also competed in the triple jump event, placing 8th with a distance of 12.87 meters.

Nour Shahin (Peabody, Mass.) picked up where he left off last weekend as he had another quality day in the shot put and discus throw events. His discus throw traveled a distance of 42.98 meters, good for 3rd place in his flight. He beat his distance from last weekend in the shot put, this time putting up a distance of 14.50 meters placing 4th.

Junior John Lawrence (Peabody, Mass.) finished 5th in his section in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:23.37. Freshman Mike McGee (Westford, Mass.) finished with a time of 4:27.00 in that same section.

Merrimack will compete next in the Springfield Invitational on Saturday April 21.
