LOWELL, MA – The Merrimack men's track and field team competed on Saturday afternoon at the George Davis Invitational held at the Cushing Field Complex.
The Warriors had two relay teams set school records as the 4x100 meter team of Anthony Arcari (Tewksbury, Mass.), Jesse Fowler (Lynn, Mass.), Francesco Cuesta and Ethan Weaver (Brooklyn, CT) took home the 4th place finish in a time of 42.85 seconds. The 4x400 meter relay team of Fowler, Cuesta, Ethan Weaver and Ian Weaver (Brooklyn, CT) took home the 3rd place finish in a school record time of 3:28.98.
Fowler set the school record in the 200 meter dash as he took home the 2nd place finish in his heat in a time of 22.11 seconds. Arcari and Mike Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) both posted personal best times in the same event with times of 23.88 seconds and 23.90 seconds respectively.
Two Warriors competed in the 100 meter dash on Saturday with Arcari picking up the 11th place finish in a time of 11.41 seconds and Kelley finishing in 11.84 seconds. In the 5,000 meter run, three Warriors posted personal best times on the afternoon. Luis Cruz (Lawrence, Mass.) took home the 21st place finish in a time of 15:49.00 followed by John Doherty (Chelmsford, Mass.) and Evan Braz (Peabody, Mass.) finishing with times of 15:53.00 and 15:57.00 respectively.
Nour Shahin (Peabody, Mass.) continued to put up quality outings as he finished in 6th place in the shot put event with a throw of 14.06 meters. Shahin also picked up a 6th place finish in the discus throw with a school record throw of 43.51 meters.
Sophomore Anthony Baccini (Billerica, Mass.) took home the 10th place finish in the triple jump event with a jump of 12.96 meters.
Next up Merrimack will compete in the Sky Hawk Invite on Saturday April 14.
