BOSTON, MA- The Merrimack men's indoor track and field team posted an eighth-place finish at the Northeast-10 Indoor Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center Saturday evening. The Warriors racked up 15.50 points at the meet to edge Saint Rose by 3.5 points.
Jesse Fowler (Lynn, MA) captured sixth in the 55 meter dash after qualifying for the finals with a time of 6.65 in the preliminary heats. Mike Kelley clocked in with a time of 6.76 in the preliminaries, good for 10th.
Nour Shahin (Peabody, MA) claimed a seventh-place finish in the shot put with a toss of 13.42 meters.
Ian Weaver also placed sixth in the high jump with a leap of 1.79 meters. Anthony Baccini (Billerica, MA) vaulted 13.11 meters in the triple jump to claim sixth place.
"We performed well today. Our athletes all came ready to compete. Every athlete turned in personal or seasonal bests in their events. Today was a big improvement over last year's results. It was great to see Merrimack be competitive is so many events," said head coach Matt Pimentel.
Up next, the Warriors will compete at the New England Championships February 24.
