Men’s Track & Field Claims Four Individual Titles at Tufts Invitational

MEDFORD, MA- The Merrimack men's indoor track and field team posted nine top-five finishes at the Tufts Invitational Saturday afternoon.

Ian Weaver (Brooklyn, CT) captured the 400 meter and high jump crowns to lead the way. The senior co-captain clocked in with a time of 52.04 in the 400 meter dash and cleared 1.83 meters.

Ethan Weaver (Brooklyn, CT) won the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.48, coming in just ahead of Kelley in second.

Anthony Baccini (Billerica, MA) logged the Warriors' only other individual title, topping the field in the long jump. He also earned a third-place finish in the triple jump.

Mike Kelley (Stoneham, MA) finished second in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.38. Gray Howard (Salem, NH) crossed the finish line with a mark of 56.12, good for fourth in the 400 meters.

Evan Braz (Peabody, MA) and Joey Smith (Medford, MA) earned fifth and sixth place in the 800 meter run, respectively.

"I was very pleased with our performances today.    As the athletes continue to progress with seasonal and personal bests, we have high hopes for the conference meet and the outdoor season," said head coach Matt Pimentel.

Up next, Merrimack will compete at the Northeast-10 Conference Championship meet February 18 at the Reggie Lewis Center.
