NEW HAVEN, CT – Behind the strong running of Jesse Fowler (Lynn, MA), the Merrimack men's track team finished its season 20th overall and sixth out of Northeast-10 schools.
Fowler was fourth in the 100 and 200 meter finals, earning eight points for his team overall.
"This weekend capped off a very successful first year for our program," said head coach Matt Pimentel. "By placing fourth in both in the 100 and 200 meters, Jesse showed he is one of the top sprinters in all of New England. Finishing 20th as a team out of all Division I, II, and III programs is a tremendous accomplishment for our young team. We look forward to building an even more competitive program in the years to come."
For their efforts, Fowler's 100 and 200 meter performances as well as the effort from the 4x100 relay team earned All-New England honors.
On Friday, Fowler qualified for the 100 and 200 meter finals Friday in day two of the New England Championships hosted by Southern Connecticut State University. Fowler was sixth in the 100 meters in 11.00 seconds and was seventh in the 200 meters in 22.39.
