Men’s Tennis Earns Seventh-Straight NCAA Tournament Bid
WARRIORS EARN THE NO. 5 SEED AND WILL FACE NO. 4 SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE ON MONDAY, MAY 5TH
NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Following its third straight Northeast-10 Regular Season title, the Merrimack College men's tennis team received the No. 5 seed in the East Region for the upcoming 2014 NCAA Division II Tennis Championship, as announced Tuesday night.
No. 5 Merrimack will take on No. 4 Southern New Hampshire University in the preliminary round of the tournament on Monday, May 5th on the campus of Concordia (N.Y.). The winner of the match will take on host Concordia (N.Y.) on Tuesday, May 6th in Bronxville, N.Y.
The Warriors finished the regular season with an overall record of 12-7 and captured their third NE-10 Title. After earning a first round bye in the Northeast-10 Championship, Merrimack defeated fourth-seeded Adelphi University, 5-1. The Warriors were edged in the Northeast-10 Championship final in a match for the ages, dropping the title to Southern New Hampshire, 5-4, to narrowly avoid a three-peat.
The East Region will send two representatives (the winners of each preliminary round bracket) to the NCAA National Championships hosted by Rollins College in Florida from May 14-17.
