Men's Tennis Defeats Southern New Hampshire, 7-2


MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Merrimack College men's tennis team picks up its 10th win of the season, as the Warriors defeated Northeast-10 foe Southern New Hampshire, 7-2, Monday evening at the SNHU Tennis Courts.

How it Happened vs. Southern New Hampshire

Merrimack was able to pick up two of the three points in doubles action on Friday afternoon against the Penmen.

Sophomore Matt Pronesti (Mission Viejo, Calif.) and senior Chris Barnhart(Longmeadow, Mass.) defeated Mitch DoBek and Wallace by the score of 9-8 in No. 1 doubles action. Freshman James Barnhart (Longmeadow, Mass.) and freshman Nick Majewski (Longmeadow, Mass.) wrapped up doubles action with an 8-3 win.

The Warriors picked up five of the six points in singles action to secure the NE-10 conference victory.

SNHU's Mitch Dobek dominated in No. 1 singles with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Pronesti. Sophomore Miguel Belfort (Caracas, Venezuela) picked up the Warriors third point of the afternoon with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Juan Arango-Campo in No. 2 singles. Junior Vince Bellino (Amesbury, Mass.) prevailed in No. 4 singles with a 6-2, 6-5 victory over Matt Dobek.

In No. 3 singles, C. Barnhart defeated Wallace in three sets while J. Barnhart picked up the three set win over in No. 5 singles. Majewski concluded the match with a 6-0, 6-2 victory in the No. 6 match.
