Men’s Tennis Registers 9-0 Win over Franklin Pierce


RINDGE, N.H. - The Merrimack College men's tennis team remains unbeaten in Northeast-10 Conference action with a 9-0 victory at Franklin Pierce Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened

In doubles action, sophomore Matt Pronesti (Mission Viejo, Calif.) and senior Chris Barnhart (Longmeadow, Mass.) registered an 8-1 win at the top spot over Patrick Gihuly and Chris Brewer. Sophomore Miguel Belfort (Caracas, Venezuela) and junior Vince Bellino (Amesbury, Mass.) defeated Jared Taylor and Drew Bennett, 8-4 in the No. 2 doubles slot. At the third spot, freshman James Barnhart (Longmeadow, Mass.) and freshman Nick Majewski (Brewster, Mass.) were 8-3 winners over Mark Petrie and Aras Banevicius.

Pronesti prevailed 6-2, 6-0 at the top slot while Belfort cruised to a 6-4, 6-0 win at the second position. C. Barnhart rolled to a 6-1, 6-0 decision at the No. 3 spot. Bellino claimed an 8-4 victory at the No. 4 singles match. Majewski triumphed 6-4, 6-0 at the fifth slot and freshman Tayyab Sheikh (Longmeadow, Mass.) won at the No. 6 spot 6-1, 6-1.
