Golijanin Nabs Men's Tennis Freshman of the Week

NORTH ANDOVER, MA – Freshman Petar Golijanin (Novi Sad, Serbia) of the Merrimack men’s tennis Warriors (1-0, 1-0 NE-10) was named Freshman of the Week in the Northeast-10 Conference this past week for his part in a convincing win over Le Moyne and a deep run into the Wheaton Invitational Tournament.

Golijanin, who is 3-2 overall this fall, helped Merrimack to a 6-3 win over Le Moyne with a No. 3 singles victory (7-5, 6-1) and No. 3 doubles victory (8-1). He also advanced the furthest among Warriors in the Wheaton College Invitational, making it to the semifinals with 8-0 and 8-6 wins before losing in a tie-break.

Golijanin becomes the sixth Warrior this past week to be named a Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week along with James Suozzo (football), Jen Otis (Field Hockey), Robbie Sabadoz (M-Soccer), Molly Cindric (Volleyball) and Alyssa Pickert (Volleyball).

The men’s tennis team returns to action on Friday, October 2 at Sothern New Hampshire University at 4:00pm.
