Men’s Soccer Thwarted by Bentley, 1-0

WALTHAM, Mass.- The Merrimack men's soccer team fell to Bentley 1-0 Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Warriors move to 9-5-1 overall and 5-5-1 in the Northeast-10 Conference while the Falcons improve to 9-2-4 on the year and 6-1-4 in the league.

It wasn't until the 72nd minute that the first goal of the match was scored. Cody Osgood netted an unassisted tally for Bentley's 1-0 lead. The one score was all that the Falcons needed as they held off the Warriors for the 1-0 victory.

The Warriors and Falcons each recorded seven shots in the match with the home team owning the edge in shots on goal, 3-2. Merrimack held a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks awarded in the game, six of which came in the second 45 minutes of play.

Alejandro Fuchs (Caracas, Venezuela) paced the Warriors with two shots, including firing one on goal.

Mattias Drummond (Partille, Sweden) made a pair of saves in the contest for the Warriors. Mike Nikiforov also turned aside two shots for Bentley.

Merrimack will remain on the road as it travels to nearby rival UMass Lowell October 26.
