Men's Soccer Moves Up to No. 14 in NSCAA National Poll
NORTH ANDOVER, Mass.- The Merrimack men's soccer team remained in the NSCAA National Poll for the third consecutive week, moving up two spots to No. 14. The Warriors are 6-1 overall on the year and 2-1 in the Northeast-10.
Merrimack improved to 6-0-0 on the year with a midweek victory over Stonehill. The Warriors breezed past the Skyhawks 3-0 on goals from Francis Mulkern (Scituate, Mass.), Olof Lindhe (Stockholm, Sweden) and Robbie Sabadoz (Ottawa, Ontario). Kevin Joyce (Mansfield, Mass.) posted his third shutout of the 2010 campaign in the match.
In its first contest against a top 25 team, the Warriors suffered their first loss of the season. Merrimack fell to No. 25 Franklin Pierce 2-1.
The Warriors will play two Northeast-10 games this week as they host No. 2 Southern N.H., September 29. Merrimack will close out the week with a road match at American International October 2.
Two weeks ago, Merrimack made its first appearance of the year in the NSCAA/HendrickCars.com National Poll, garnering a No. 19 ranking. Last week, the Warriors appeared at No. 16 in the poll.
