NORTH ANDOVER, Mass.- After a 5-0-0 start to the 2010 season, the Merrimack men's soccer team has jumped to No. 16 in the NSCAA National Poll. The Warriors moved up three spots in the rankings after defeating Saint Rose 4-0, September 18. Last week's No. 19 ranking marked the first time that Merrimack appeared in the national poll since 2008.
The Warriors will play a pair of Northeast-10 games in the week ahead. Stonehill travels to North Andover to take on Merrimack, September 22. The team wraps up the week with a road contest at No. 25 Franklin Pierce, September 26.
Through the first five games of the year, three players have 10 or more points. Franklin Pena (Revere, Mass.) leads the way with 13 points on five goals and three assists. Robbie Sabadoz (Ottawa, Ontario) has registered four goals and three assists, good for 11 points. Evan Burokas (Auburn, Mass.) has tallied three goals and dished out four assists this season, giving him 10 points.
Merrimack is one of three Northeast-10 institutions represented in this week's national rankings. Southern New Hampshire earned a No. 4 ranking, followed by Merrimack at No. 16 and Franklin Pierce at No. 25.
