NORTH ANDOVER, MA – The Merrimack men's lacrosse team has signed nine student-athletes to National Letters of Intent during the early signing period for the class of 2017.
"The Merrimack Men's Lacrosse program is very proud to announce the nine student athletes who have signed National Letters of Intent to join our class who will be joining us in the fall of 2013," said head coach Mike Morgan who will enter his sixth season in 2013. "This is a group of skilled, hard working athletes, all from great high school programs and we are excited as a staff to welcome them to our program. The growth and momentum of Merrimack College and our lacrosse program continues to allow us to recruit the best players from all over the country and now North of the border as well. Our staff is looking forward to have such a great group joining our roster next season"
The Warriors currently own a 10-2 record and are tied for first place in the Northeast-10 Conference with a conference mark of 9-1. Leading the way offensively is a familiar face, Corey Lunney (Little Silver, NJ), who leads the conference in scoring with 43 goals and 56 points on the season. Senior Greg Melaugh (Billerica, Mass.) ranks second on the Warriors with 30 goals on the season while sophomore Jamie Shand (Massapequa, NY) is having a great all around season with 20 goals and 20 assists. Between the pipes, Connor Reagan (East Lyme, CT) is having the best season of his career as he owns a 10-2 record with a goals-against average of 6.93 and a save percentage of 62.6 percent.

Morgan on Trask: "Jack is a high level offensive player with the ability to get his own shot, create for teammates, and is also great in the open field. He has been recognized as one of the top players in the state of Colorado with great numbers every year since he was a freshman. He has helped lead Air Academy as a captain during the past two seasons as well. Jack is hard worker and is sharp in many areas of his game. We expect him to come in and fight to contribute for us right away next year."
All-Bergen County First Team..All-Gibbs First Team...Leading point scorer sophomore and junior year..three year starter…42 goals and 37 assists as a junior.
Morgan on Allen: "Max is an excellent scorer who also has great vision. He has the ability to get his own shot off the dodge and is one of the reasons Don Bosco has had the success they have had over the past two seasons. Max has played against some of the best teams in the country the past two seasons and has showed he can put up numbers consistently. We are looking for Max to come in and fight to contribute right away for us next year."
Spencer Bromley, Attack, (Earl Marriott Secondary/Surrey, BC.)
Finished 8th in scoring in the BC intermediate box lacrosse league playing for the Richmond Roadrunners with 36 goals and 38 assists, on the way to becoming provincial league champions…Played for the runner up South Fraser Warriors in the provincial U-16 championship tallying 16 goals and four assists in three games.
Morgan on Bromley: "Spencer has a great feel for the game and can finish as well as anyone we saw this summer. He has played for some of the best box teams up North and brings a very crafty field game as well. He adds a great inside presence to our team and should help us in that area next year."
Brennen Morin, Defense , (Minnechaug H.S./Bridgton Academy/Wilbraham, MA.)
1st Team All Western Mass junior year….2nd Team Western Mass senior year…Three year varsity starter…Western Massachusetts Championship senior year…10 goals and three assists in his Minnechaug career.
Morgan on Morin: "Brennen is a very rangy and athletic defenseman with a very good stick. He is a solid cover guy and is very good in transition. He has great feet as well as very good off the ground. Brennen is athletic enough to cover all over the field when needed. He has the ability to come in and compete right away for time ."
Danny Loprete, Midfield, (Watertown H.S./Watertown, MA.)
Three year varsity starter…71% faceoff percentage over 3 seasons at Watertown…Junior and senior year captain…Led WHS to their first ever tournament game…23 goals, 20 assists and 243 ground balls in three seasons.
Morgan on Loprete: "Danny has very quick hands and technically gets better every game he plays. He is also very scrappy at the face off X and can handle the ball under pressure. He held his own against every top ranked face off recruit we saw this summer. Danny will look to push for time early on, and continue our solid tradition of top level face off men."
Dom Madonna, Goalie, (Liverpool H.S./Liverpool, NY.)
Upstate Under Armour Lacrosse All-American….2011 Section 3 CNYCL Honorable Mention…2012 Section 3 CNYCL 2nd Team All Star…137 saves (4.8 GAA) and 64% save percentage as a sophomore…187 saves (4.5 GAA) and 71% save percentage as a junior…Led Liverpool to a combined 32-3 record over the past two seasons.
Morgan on Madonna: "Dom played consistently as well as any goalie we saw this past fall and summer. He has very quick hands and a very good presence in net. Dom comes from a great program at Liverpool and a great club team (Team United) and has seen top level competition over the past few seasons. Dom is expected to compete for the starting job as a freshman. "

Bobby O'Brien, Midfield, (Duxbury H.S./Duxbury, MA.)
Two year varsity member…Senior year lacrosse captain (3 sport captain)….3 time State Champion at Duxbury…14 goals, 8 assists and 9 ground balls as a junior.
Morgan on O'Brien: "Bobby is a fantastic athlete who comes from a great program. He is very good in transition and between the lines. Bobby has also shown a high level of leadership in being named captain of 3 sports at Duxbury. He has the ability to help us in many areas next year with his various skill sets. "

Morgan on Bassett: "John is a very polished all-around player from a great program. He has shown to not only be a top goal scorer/assist man in the region but has also excelled in the riding game and fighting for ground balls. John is one of your old school do it all attackman who plays with a chip on his shoulder. We expect John to come in and compete for time right away with all the different things he brings to a program."
Zach Geiger, Midfield, (Colts Neck H.S./Marlboro, NJ.)
First team All-Division, Third team All-Shore and All FRHSD All Star as a junior….Second team All Division and All FRHSD All Star as a sophomore…All Conference Coaches team as a sophomore and junior…23 goals and 20 assists as a sophomore….27 goals and 19 assists as a junior.
Morgan on Geiger: "Zach is a very athletic and two way midfielder who is great in transition. He is a very good downhill dodger but can also score from the outside. Zach is a grinder and hard worker to go along with his offensive skill. He has college athleticism and should help us in transition as well as other areas next year."
