Men’s Lacrosse Fourth in Lacrosse Magazine National Preseason Poll

NORTH ANDOVER, MA - After winning a school-record 14 games and earning the first Final Four appearance in program history in 2009, expectations will be high in 2010 for the Merrimack men's lacrosse team, who was picked fourth nationally in the Lacrosse Magazine preseason poll, the highest preseason ranking in school history.

Led by third-year head coach Mike Morgan, Merrimack will take the field on February 27 against the 2009 defending champs and preseason number one C.W. Post led by captains Cory Spinale (Wakefield, MA), Matthew Sweeney (Norwood, MA) and Mark Webber (Mansfield, MA).

Spinale and three of his teammates, Nick Maggio (Winchester, MA), Michael Balbuena (Falmouth, MA) and Shane Mahar (Slingerlands, NY) have earned preseason All-American honors by Inside Lacrosse.

Le Moyne, who was the only team to beat Merrimack in 2009, earned the number two overall ranking, while NYIT was selected third. Merrimack and Le Moyne are the only two Northeast-10 schools in the top ten.
