Mens Lacrosse Signs Eight to National Letters of Intent
NORTH ANDOVER, MA – The Merrimack men’s lacrosse
team has signed eight student-athletes to National Letters of
Intent for the class of 2013.
"The Merrimack Men's Lacrosse program is very proud to announce
the eight student athletes who have signed National Letters of
Intent to join our class of 2013," said head coach Mike
Morgan who will enter his second season in 2009. "This is
a group of skilled, hard working athletes, all from great high
school programs. Our staff is excited to have such a great group
joining our roster next season"
Merrimack finished in third place in 2008 with a 12-4 record.
Cory Spinale was named the Northeast-10 and ECAC
Goaltender of the Year, while Greg Rogowski earned
All-American and first-team conference honors. In his first season
as head coach, Morgan was named the NEILA and Northeast-10 Coach of
the Year.
The Warriors open the 2009 season on March 14 against Dowling at 1
p.m. at Warrior Field.
Matt Dellaquila, Midfield (Mattituck, NY/St. Anthony's
H.S.)
Key midfielder on the #26 national ranked St. Anthony's Friars in
2008…returns as a top midfielder on a 15-4 team from
2008
Morgan on Dellaquila: "Matt is an all around midfielder who can
dodge, shoot and face-off if needed. He has been a key contributor
to an outstanding program for two years. His versatility will make
him a very successful player for us next year."
Corey Lunney Attack/Midfield, (Little Silver, NJ/Red Bank
Regional H.S.)
1st Team All-Shore…All State Honorable Mention
2008…96 pts as a junior.
Morgan on Lunney: "Corey has outstanding speed and one of the
hardest shots in this class. He gives us the ability to run him at
attack as well as midfield. Corey has shown to be one of the most
athletic offensive players in NJ last year."
Matt Marini Midfield, (Trumbull, CT/St. Joseph
H.S.)

Morgan on Marini: "Matt is a big, strong midfielder who can dodge
very strong to the net. He brings the ability to get his own shot
and shoot well on the run. Matt will add more firepower to our
midfield as a freshman."
Greg Melaugh, Attack (Billerica, MA/Billerica Memorial
H.S.)
Massachusetts All-American as a junior…scored 106 pts his
junior year…named MVC Player of the Year
Morgan on Melaugh: “Greg will add a great deal to our attack
next year with his outstanding vision and finishing ability. He has
been part of an outstanding program at Billerica since he was a
freshman."
Mike Perdie Midfield (Wading River NY/Shoreham Wading
River H.S.)
Four-year varsity member; three-year starter…34 pts as
junior…2007 NY State Championship team
Morgan on Perdie: “Mike is an outstanding offensive player
with great dodging and shooting ability, with his work ethic being
next to none. He has been a key contributor on a state championship
team and looks to again help SWR remain an elite team in NY."
Eric Peterson Defense, (Franklin, MA/Franklin
H.S.)

Morgan on Peterson: "Eric brings great checking ability with
outstanding position to our program. He has shown to be able to
guard some of the best players in Massachusetts. His great size and
athleticism will be a key asset for the Warriors next year."
Connor Reagan, Goalie, (East Lyme, CT/East Lyme
H.S.)

ECC…averaged 16 saves per game as a junior.
Morgan on Reagan: "Connor is very good between the pipes and adds
athleticism out of the cage as well. He has become one of the top
goalies in CT and we expect big things from him in his Merrimack
career."
Nick Vazquez, Midfield (Haverhill, MA/Haverhill
H.S.)
Two-time MVC All-Star…84 pts as a junior…two-time
Haverhill captain
Morgan on Vazquez: "Nick is a student of the game who combines
great scoring ability with great vision and team play. Nick will
again be a top player in Massachusetts this season and looks to
contribute at our midfield next year."
