BOSTON – The Merrimack College men's ice hockey team participated in a special Citi Frozen Fenway Media Day event on Friday afternoon at historic Fenway Park, joining the other seven Hockey East teams who will comprise the four-game, two-weekend outdoor event in January.

Ninth-year head coach Mark Dennehy joined senior captain and Boston native Mike Collins (Boston, Mass.) amidst the group of Hockey East Frozen Fenway representatives: Boston College, Boston University, Maine, Northeastern University, Providence College, UMass Lowell, and the newest member of the conference, Notre Dame.

The event began with a joint press conference featuring Mayor Thomas Menino, Hockey East Commissioner Joe Bertagna, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Boston Red Sox Sam Kennedy, and executives from Citigroup, the title sponsor of the third installment of Frozen Fenway.

Later tonight, members of the participating Frozen Fenway teams will partake in a special pregame ceremony on the field prior to first pitch between the Red Sox and Chicago White Sox.

The third installment of Frozen Fenway will be held over a two-weekend span beginning Jan. 4, 2014. The Warriors will open the four-game slate with a showdown against Providence College in the matinee game at 4 p.m., before Boston College and Notre Dame face off later that night.

A week later, UMass Lowell tackles Northeastern in the early game on Jan. 11, 2014, before Boston University and Maine do battle in the nightcap.
