FORMER WARRIOR KYLE BIGOS SIGNS ONE-YEAR AHL CONTRACT WITH WORCESTER SHARKS
NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Former Merrimack defenseman Kyle Bigos (Upland, Calif.) has joined the professional hockey ranks after signing a one-year American Hockey League (AHL) contract with the Worcester Sharks.
Bigos, a four-year Warrior who graduated last month, joins the AHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks after the organization traded for the towering blueliner on July 6. He spent last week at the Sharks' Development Camp with other top prospects in the organization.
In Bigos' four-year Merrimack career, the 6-foot-5 defenseman registered 47 points on 14 career goals and 33 helpers over a span of 133 games with the Navy and Gold.
Originally drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in 2009 with the 99th overall pick in the NHL Draft, Bigos posted four goals and seven assists (11 points) while accruing 111 penalty minutes during his final season on campus.
