Hockey Ranked 19th Nationally; Marotta, Myers Players of the Week

NORTH ANDOVER, MA – The Merrimack hockey team returned to the national polls Monday while Josh Myers (Colorado Springs, CO) and Sam Marotta (Bridgewater, MA) were named Hockey East Players of the Week.

Following a season-opening 4-1 win at #5 Union, Merrimack is ranked 19th nationally in the USCHO National poll. The Warriors ended Union's 11-game home unbeaten streak and won their first game against a top-five opponent on the road since 2003.

Myers was named the Hockey East Athletic Republic Player of the Week after scoring two goals in the third period, including the game-winner. It was the first multi-goal game of Myers' career.

Making his second career start, Marotta made 33 saves in the victory, including 16 in the first period and was named the Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week.
