NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The seventh-ranked Merrimack College field hockey team is back in the NCAA Division II Field Hockey Championship for the third straight season, as the Warriors earned an at-large selection to the Big Dance and will compete for a national championship beginning Saturday (Nov. 16), as announced by the NCAA DII Field Hockey Committee Monday.

The Warriors, who finished the regular season with a 13-5 overall record and advanced to the Northeast-10 Conference Championship Semifinals, will travel to Easton, Mass., to face a familiar opponent in fifth-ranked Stonehill College, who defeated Merrimack, 3-2, in the NE-10 Semifinals last Friday. Saturday's First Round competition – slated to begin at 12 p.m. – will mark Merrimack's third straight game against the Skyhawks. The Warriors defeated Stonehill, 1-0, in their regular-season finale before last week's loss. Stonehill also handed Merrimack a 3-1 setback at home back on Sept. 17.

LIU-Post and Shippensburg (Pa.) both earned first-round byes in the six-team field. The winner of Saturday's Merrimack-Stonehill matchup will advance to face the unbeaten Pioneers (20-0) in the NCAA Final Four on Nov. 22.

In the South Region, Millersville (Pa.) will play host to West Chester in the first-round contest, also on Nov. 16. The winner will advance to play Shippensburg in the National Semifinals on Nov. 22, as well.
