SENIORS JESSICA OTIS, SARAH DUNBAR TO REPRESENT NORTH REGION IN SENIOR GAME
NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – After playing pivotal roles in the No. 7 Merrimack College field hockey team's 13-win regular season, senior forward Jessica Otis (Pittsford, N.Y.) and senior defender Sarah Dunbar (Hubbardston, Mass.) have both been selected to represent the North Region at the 2013 Front Rush/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II North/South Senior Game on Saturday, Nov. 23, at the Virginia Beach Sports Complex, as announced Wednesday.
Both players will join a compilation of some of the top senior student-athletes across the country in an exhibition pitting the top seniors from the North Region against classmates from the South. Game time on Nov. 23 is set for 12:30 p.m., and the contest will fall on the off day between the National Semifinals and Finals.
A First-Team All-American a year ago, Otis has scripted another terrific campaign as a senior and represents one of the top scorers on both Merrimack and in the Northeast-10 Conference. She boasts 10 goals and 11 assists for 31 points at the conclusion of the regular season, ranking second on the team in goals and scoring and first in assists.
A Second-Team All-American in 2012, Dunbar has also been stellar in her final season on campus, leading a Merrimack defensive unit that has limited the opposition to just 1.56 goals per game. The Hubbardston, Mass., native leads Merrimack with five defensive saves on the season, a mark that also is among the NE-10 leaders.
Concluding the regular season ta 13-4 overall, Merrimack now awaits its playoff seeding for the Northeast-10 Championship, which is dependent on results across the remainder of the league this weekend.
