Players of the Week, Berquist and Nadeau Lead #10 Field Hockey
NORTH ANDOVER, MA – Helping #10 Merrimack field hockey to
a pair of shut-outs, junior Ashley Nadeau (Canton,
MA) and freshman Kerri Bergqust (Mashpee,
MA) were named the Northeast-10 Defensive Player of the
Week and Goalie of the Week, respectively.
With her second Goalie of the Week honor this season, freshman
goalkeeper Bergquist made 13 saves, including 10 in a 1-0 win over
Saint Michael’s. Tallying her program-record 11th win and
eighth game with double-digit saves, Bergquist also stopped a
penalty stroke later in the second half against Saint
Michael’s.
Nadeau earned her first Northeast-10 Defensive Player of the Week
honor in anchoring a Warriors defense that held the opposition
scoreless in 140 minutes. With two defensive saves against Saint
Michael’s, Nadeau helped Merrimack hold onto the 1-0 win.
With a program record 11 wins on the year, Merrimack heads to #4
Stonehill College on Wednesday. The Warriors sit in fourth among
Northeast-10 teams and would host a playoff contest in November if
they hold on through the final two contests.
