Loiseau Named BSN First-Team Preseason All-American

NORTH ANDOVER, MA – Senior captain Shawn Loiseau (Shrewsbury, MA) was named a first-team Preseason All-American by Beyond Sports LLC.

Loiseau, who has also been recognized by Consensus Draft Services as a Preseason All-American, was the only player from the Northeast-10 named to the first team. Just nine Division II players were first-team honorees, while just one other player, Bentley's Donald Hopkins, was named to either the first or second team.

Loiseau, who needs 64 more tackles for the school's all-time mark for a career, earned second team All-American honors as a junior. The Gridiron Club of Greater Boston Defensive Player of the Year, Loiseau set the school record for tackles for the second straight season and ranked second in the country in tackles per game. The Northeast-10 Defensive Player of the Year and a first-team all-conference selection, the junior will enter his senior season as the program's all-time leader in tackles for a career.

The BSN Preseason All-American team is comprised of players from the FCS, Division II, Division III and NAIA levels.

Merrimack, which opens fall camp on Sunday, opens the 2011 season on September 3 at 7 p.m. against WPI at Warrior Field.
