Anthony Smalls Named Northeast-10 Player of the Week
NORTH ANDOVER, MA – Sophomore running back Anthony
Smalls (Dorchester, MA) was named the Northeast-10 Player
of the Week on Monday.
Smalls becomes the second straight Warrior to earn Player of the
Week honors, after James Suozzo (Everett, MA) took the honor last
week.
Smalls rushed for a career-high 219 yards and two touchdowns on 28
carries in Merrimack’s 41-31 win over Saint Anselm. Through
four games, the sophomore has 701 rushing yards, averaging 8.2
yards per carry and 175.2 yards per game, tops in the Northeast-10
and second in the country among Division II rushers.
This is Smalls’ second career weekly honor. He earned
Freshman of the Week honors last season after rushing for 135 yards
against Assumption.
The Warriors (3-1, 2-0 NE-10) host unbeaten Bentley University in
a first-place showdown on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Warrior Field.
