Merrimack Ultimate Frisbee Named 2012 Club Sport Team of the Year

NORTH ANDOVER, MA - At the annual Merrimack College LEAD Awards on Wednesday evening, the Merrimack College Ultimate Frisbee team was recognized as the 2012 Club Sport of the Year.

The Club Sport of Year is awarded annually to the Merrimack club that has not only achieved success on the playing field but also exhibited a commitment to student-driven leadership through community involvement, successfully working with members of the Merrimack community and positively representing Merrimack College as a whole.  This year’s honoree competed successfully in numerous on- and off-campus tournaments while still keeping time to give back to the community through volunteer work with the Andover Rotary Club to collect food for the Lazarus House Soup Kitchen of Lawrence.

The Merrimack Ultimate Frisbee team was lead this year by junior club president Peter Wollny.

Also among the finalists for 2012 Club Sports of the Year were men's ice hockey and cheerleading.
