Bercume Named to NCBWA All-Region Team, Selected to NEIBA All-Star Game
NORTH ANDOVER, MA – Jeff Bercume (Leicester,
MA) was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers
Association first-team all-region and was selected to play in the
annual NEIBA All-Star game.
The 2009 New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA)
College All-Star game will be played on Thursday June 4 at
Campanelli Stadium in Brockton at 7 p.m. Bercume will represent a
College squad consisting of All-New England Division II players and
a New England Division III Senior All-Star team. They will take on
the University team of All-New England Division I All-Stars that
owns the all-time series 21-11-1, though the College team has won
two straight.
Last week, Bercume was named a first-team all-east region
selection by the Division II baseball coaches. By virtue of being a
first-team honoree, Bercume’s name will appear on the
All-American ballot.
Also a Northeast-10 first-team selection, Bercume was fourth in
the conference with a .385 batting average, while finishing second
with 23 steals. He added five homers, 46 RBIs, and a .447 on-base
percentage, all tops on the Warriors. The centerfielder departs the
program with 230 hits, most in school history, while earning three
first-team all-conference selections.
