Bercume Named to Daktronics All-East Region First Team
NORTH ANDOVER, MA – Jeff Bercume (Leicester,
MA) was named to the Daktronics All-East Region first team
for the second straight year Wednesday.
Also a Northeast-10 first-team selection, Bercume was fourth in the
conference with a .385 batting average, while leading the league
with 23 steals. He added five homers, 46 RBIs, and a .447 on-base
percentage, all tops on the Warriors. The centerfielder departs the
program with 230 hits, most in school history, while earning three
first-team all-conference selections.
Assumption’s Mike Baillargeon and Dowling’s Gabriel
Duran were named the East Region Player of the Year and East Region
Pitcher of Year respectively.
Rounding out the 2009 Daktronics East Region First Team are Phil
Messerian of Nyack (utility), Michael Munoz of Dominican
(designated hitter), Kyle Vazquez and Tom Cote of Franklin Pierce
(starting pitchers), Tom Kahl of Dominican (starting pitcher),
Justin Moore of Dominican (relief pitcher), Mike Dowd of Franklin
Pierce (catcher), Ryan Geffert of Southern Connecticut State (1B),
Willie Mann of Dominican (3B), P.J. Rodriguez of Nyack (SS), Cody
Holliday of Wilmington (OF), Jeff Bercume of Merrimack (OF) and
T.J. Greig of Molloy (OF).
