Baseball Blanked by Lowell 3-0 Wednesday
NORTH ANDOVER, MA – The Merrimack baseball team dropped a
3-0 decision Wednesday afternoon at a frigid Warrior Field.
The first run came in the fourth as Luke Wallace hit a one-out
single, went to second on an infield single by J.T Leary, advanced
to third on a throwing error on Leary’s single, and scored,
unearned, on a sacrifice fly from Matt Jacobs.
The Warriors managed just two singles, a fifth-inning single from
Mike Andre and a sixth-inning hit from
Andrew Johnson.
Chris Caron (1-3) took the loss for Merrimack, as
the right-hander allowed an unearned run and three hits in four
innings. Ryan McNeil allowed two eighth-inning
runs but struck out two in five innings of relief. The Warriors
stranded 11 River Hawks on the bases.
River Hawk starter Dan White hurled five innings of one-hit ball,
earning his first win of the season and combined with Matt Monico
and Dallas Nunes on the two-hit shutout.
Merrimack (10-10, 1-5 NE-10) is idle until Saturday when Stonehill
visits Warrior Field for a doubleheader with first pitch of game
one at noon.
