Falcons Rally for 6-2 Victory over Baseball Thursday
WALTHAM, MA – The Merrimack baseball team led 2-0, but
Bentley recovered, defeating the Warriors 6-2 Thursday at DeFelice
Field in a Northeast-10 conference game.
Merrimack broke a scoreless tie in the third after P.J.
Farnham led off with a double, stole third with one out,
and scored on a RBI groundout off the bat of Bob
McCarthy.
The Warriors made it 2-0 in the fourth, scoring without a hit, as
Andrew Johnson was hit by a pitch, advanced all
the way to third on a groundout to the catcher and scored when a
throw home, when Mike Dooling grounded to second,
was wide of the catcher.
Chris Caron got the start on the hill and hurled
three scoreless innings, before surrendering a solo homer by
cleanup hitter James Roche in the fourth. The Falcons put two up in
the sixth on a one-out triple by Charlie Pagliarulo that plated
Mike DeCoste with the tying run and Roche with the go-ahead
run.
The Falcons tacked on three unearned runs in the eighth, scoring
with just one hit, taking advantage of three Merrimack errors.
Caron (1-2) allowed four runs (three earned) in seven innings
while striking out three.
Falcon pitcher Dan Murphy (2-0) went the distance, allowing two
runs (one earned) on just four hits.
Merrimack (9-7, 0-2 NE-10) hosts Southern New Hampshire for a
doubleheader Saturday with first pitch slated for noon.
