Pinettes No-Hitter Leads Baseball to Sweep over Philadelphia

PHILADLEPHIA, PA - Chris Pinette threw his
first collegiate no-hitter as Merrimack swept Philadelphia 4-0 and
6-2 Saturday afternoon.
In the first game, CF Jeff Bercume tallied two
hits and drove home two runs, including a two-run homer, his first
of the year, to give the Warriors the 2-0 lead.
Pinette retired the final 12 Philadelphia hitters in order to earn
the win and the no-hitter. He struck out three and walked one to
improve to 2-0 on the season.
In the second game, the Warriors broke the game open with four
runs, as Tim Curran doubled home Bob
McCarthy and Bercume to put Merrimack ahead, and
Matt Cataldo delivered an insurance run, scoring
Curran to give the visitors the 6-2 lead.
Chris Caron surrendered two runs in five innings
in his start, while Ryan McNeill hurled seven
scoreless innings of relief to pick up the win.
Merrimack (8-4) concludes its series with Philadelphia Saturday at
1 p.m.
