Game 1 Box / Game 2 Box

WEST PALM BEACH, FL – After losing 5-4 in game one, the Merrimack baseball team’s offense exploded, giving the Warriors a split with Northwood with an 18-5 victory in game two Sunday afternoon.

In game one, Merrimack grabbed a 3-2 lead scoring three times in the third. After Ed Medeiros singled home Tim Curran, Jeff Bercume followed with a two-run double, plating Medeiros and Brendan Pyburn. But Northwood responded with a three-run homer off the bat of James Maley in the bottom half of the inning.

Merrimack cut the lead to one in the sixth as Andrew Johnson delivered his first homer as a Warrior, but it wasn’t enough as Rocco DeLauri retired the final five batters in order for the complete game victory.

Dylan Ellis (1-1) took the loss for Merrimack as the left-hander allowed five runs (four earned) in 4.1 innings while striking out five.

In the second game, all nine Warrior starters scored as the visitors scored in each of the first six innings and put the game away with eight runs in the fifth.

Pyburn led the way with a homer, three runs, two RBIs and three hits in five at-bats. Johnson and Medeiros each drove in three runs, while backup catcher Ray Walker had three hits in his second career start.

Chris Caron gave up one unearned run in 4.1 innings on the hill, while Andrew Teahan earned the win in relief, his first career victory.
