Thanks to its partnership with Richard and Susanna Gallant and the Islanders Hockey Club, the Merrimack Athletic Department officially opened the state-of-the-art Academic Innovation Center in August of 2013.

Sitting adjacent to the Sports Medicine and Health Sciences Center, the Academic Innovation Center brought several brand-new classrooms, faculty lounges, seminar and lecture halls and a brand-new Writers' House to the campus, allowing the College to continue to offer greater numbers of classes while maintaining its small class sizes to further enhance the student and student-athlete learning experience.

Each classroom in the Academic Innovation Center brought with it brand-new furniture, tables, chairs and desks, as well as an array of state-of-the-art technology to improve the learning experience, including new computers, televisions and monitors, projectors, and more. The Center also includes a mock stock trading floor for Merrimack's burgeoning Business program, while the Writers' House offers a quiet setting where poets, fiction writers, scholars, journalists, graphic novelists and filmmakers can connect with and inspire students, faculty, staff, and the wider community.
