Nine Athletic Programs Post GPA above 3.0 in Fall Semester
NORTH ANDOVER, MA – Over half of Merrimack’s intercollegiate programs recorded a grade-point-average of 3.0 or better in the fall semester, while eight student-athletes posted a perfect 4.0 GPA.
In addition, 215 student-athletes, which is over half of Merrimack’s student-athletes, had a GPA of over 3.0 in the fall semester, which is higher than the average GPA of the entire campus.
The volleyball team led the way with a 3.39 GPA, with softball right behind them at 3.31. Six women’s programs were over 3.0, with tennis, soccer, field hockey, and cross country/track joining volleyball and softball.
On the men’s side, three programs were over 3.0, including men’s soccer, which topped all men’s teams with a 3.14 mark. Hockey (3.05) and baseball (3.03) also surpassed the 3.0 figure, with tennis (2.99) just behind the number.
The eight student-athletes recording a perfect 4.0 were Peter Early (Ward Hill, MA) (football), Stephane Da Costa (Paris, France) (hockey), Elizabeth Hopley (Cromwell, CT) (women’s soccer), Petar Golijanin (Novi Sad, Serbia) (men’s tennis), Mike Laracy (Weymouth, MA) (baseball), Kara Melillo (North Andover, MA) (softball), Ashley Nadeau (Canton, MA) (field hockey) and Heidi Wroblicky (Irvine, CA) (volleyball).
The Northeast-10 will announce its fall academic teams, which will include numerous Warriors, in late January. Seven student-athletes have already earned NSCAA Scholar All-Region honors from the men’s and women’s soccer programs.
