NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Led by rising sophomore Pat Florence (Lowell, Mass.) of the Merrimack baseball team, as well as rising senior Candace Waldie (North Andover, Mass.) of the Merrimack field hockey team, Merrimack Athletics and the Merrimack Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) presented a gift in memory of Kristiana L. Serrao on Monday afternoon on campus.

As a display of the combined efforts of the Athletics Department and all student-athletes on campus, SAAC raised $3,000 toward Make-A-Wish ® Massachusetts and Rhode Island in memory of Kristiana L. Serrao, who passed away in February at the age of 14.

On hand to accept the gift were Kristiana's mother, Maria, who serves as the Director of Procurement and Risk Management at Merrimack, as well as her her father, Argenis, and her brother, Alex.

Kristiana was born in Newton, Mass., and was raised in Melrose. She attended the Campus School at Boston College for several years, where she was loved by all her teachers and fellow students.

Make-A-Wish grants the wish of a child diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition in the United States and its territories, on average, every 38 minutes. The foundation believes that a wish experience can be a game-changer. This one belief guides them and inspires them to grant wishes that change the lives of the kids they serve.
