Athletic Department to Commemorate David Vaughan Friday Night at Men's Ice Hockey

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – In commemoration of the late Andover native David Vaughan and to support the David L. Vaughan Children’s Trust established in his honor, the Merrimack College Athletic Department is honored to announce a special pregame ceremony prior to the men’s ice hockey team’s scheduled Friday (Feb. 28) night contest against the University of New Hampshire.

On Sept. 27, 2013, David Vaughan passed away after a tragic car accident on his way to work. A devoted husband and caring father to three young children, Vaughan was only 40 years old and still full of life at the time of his passing.

Since that date, family and friends have established The David L. Vaughan Children's Trust to support his wife, Kristen, and three children – Colin (8), Kevin (6), and Caroline (3) – and ensure his dreams for them are delivered.

To offer its support, the Athletic Department will honor Kristen, Colin, Kevin and Caroline in a pregame ceremony, and a portion of all ticket revenues will be denoted back to the Vaughan Children’s Trust.

Also, Vaughan’s sons’ youth team, the Andover Penguin Mite's, will scrimmage during the first intermission. There will be a silent auction held in the lobby, with all proceeds donated directly to the Vaughan Children's Trust.
