FIELD HOCKEY, MEN’S SOCCER’S SECOND-PLACE FINISHES HIGHLIGHT TREMENDOUS FALL FOR MERRIMACK
NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – After completing one of its most successful fall seasons in recent memory, the Merrimack College Athletic Department has found itself in second place in the Northeast-10 Conference President’s Cup Standings.
The Merrimack field hockey and men’s soccer teams both earned second-place finishes this fall, while its women’s cross country squad placed fourth at the conference championship in late October and its women’s soccer team tied for fourth. The volleyball team also enjoyed a resurgent season, punching a ticket to the NE-10 Championships after finishing seventh in the regular season, while the football team rounded out the fall slate in fifth place, as well.
The Presidents' Cup is presented annually to signify overall athletic excellence in the Northeast-10. The honor is awarded to the institution that compiles the most cumulative points, based on finishes in the regular-season standings, from all of its programs competing in league championships.
Points for men's and women's cross country, men's and women's swimming & diving, men's and women's indoor and outdoor track & field, and men's golf are awarded based on placement in those sports’ respective conference championships.
